A Journey Back to the Roots
Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 dives deep into the origins of Daiva worship — the spiritual heart of the first film. Set against the lush backdrop of Tulunadu, the story travels centuries back, all the way to the Kadamba dynasty of the 4th century, exploring how divine forces and human faith intertwined to shape the region’s culture.
Rishab plays Berme, a warrior and protector of the Kantara forest, who stands guard over his people and their sacred land.
What Rishab Shetty Said
Sharing his excitement, Rishab said in a press statement, “When I began working on this prequel, I wanted to return to the origins of this world — to the roots that inspired it all. Every ritual, emotion, and moment in the film draws from lived culture and real traditions. The love it received in theatres shows how deeply our folklore resonates with people.”

The film stars Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram in pivotal roles. It follows the intense struggle between a royal family seeking control over sacred lands and the tribal communities who resist them under divine guidance.
The supporting cast includes Rakesh Poojari, Hariprashanth MG, Deepak Rai Panaje, Shaneel Gautham, and Naveen Bondel, adding depth to the epic saga.
