India is the most successful team in the history of the men’s Under-19 World Cup, and some of the nation’s finest talents over the previous two decades have made their debuts in the competition. Now, a fresh Indian squad managed by Uday Saharan will want to retain their championship and extend their winning streak to six when they face Bangladesh in the opening match of the 2024 tournament in South Africa.
Placed in Group A, the five-time winners will begin their campaign against Asian competitors at the Manguang Oval before facing Ireland and the United States. After winning their first championship in 2002 under Mohammad Kaif, Indian teams have gone on to win the U-19 World Cup in 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022.

The ICC transferred the tournament from Sri Lanka to South Africa at the last minute, and it will be divided into four groups of as many teams each. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Sixes, which will be followed by semifinals on February 6 and 8, and a final on February 11 in Benoni.
