With House of the Dragon, which debuts on Disney+Hotstar, the Game of Thrones world turns back the clock to the Targaryens and focuses on the activities leading up to the war of succession, often known as the “Dance of the Dragons” in GoT tradition.
Glimpse of the Series
The conflict between Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and her brother Aegon II over who succeeds their late father Viserys I is covered in the television series. Prince Daemon Targaryen is the king’s younger brother, and Doctor Who actor Matt Smith portrays him. Smith described the connection between the two as “very difficult.” As her father’s chosen heir, Emma D’Arcy plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.
Series Adaptation
The new series is based on the novel Fire & Blood by author George R.R. Martin. Martin, who has previously questioned certain aspects of Game of Thrones, claimed to have viewed nine episodes of House of the Dragon and thought they were “quite spectacular”.
