Pat Nibin Maxwell, 31, of Kollam, Kerala, died after a rocket fired by Hezbollah fighters from Lebanon struck close to Margaliot, a hamlet on Israel’s northern border. The incident also harmed two other Indians, both from Kerala. They have been recognized as Idukki residents Paul Melvin and Bush Joseph George.

Zaki Heller, a spokesperson for the rescue organization Magen David Adom (MDA), told PTI “The missile struck a plantation in Margaliot, a moshav (collective agricultural community) in the Galilee region in northern Israel, around 11 a.m. on Monday.”

Pat Nibin Maxwell was assassinated on Monday, and two others were injured, when Hezbollah terrorists launched an anti-tank missile from Lebanon, striking an orchard near Israel’s northern border, Margaliot village

Bush Joseph George, 31, and Paul Melvin, 28, were the other two injured and were being treated at the hospital.

Later, the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi stated that they were “deeply shocked and saddened by the death of one Indian national and the injury of two others due to a cowardly terror attack launched by Shia Terror Organisation Hezbollah”.

It further stated that Israeli medical facilities were “fully at the service of the injured, who are being handled by our very best medical staff.”

Hezbollah has launched strikes on Israel’s northern villages and military facilities, claiming to be doing so in support of Gaza. This was done since October 8, 

The battles between Israel and Hezbollah have killed seven civilians and ten IDF personnel on the Israeli side.

Hezbollah has named 229 members who were murdered by Israel after recent clashes. The majority of the Hezbollah casualties occurred in Lebanon, with some in Syria.

Further 37 operatives from different groups, a Lebanese soldier, and at least 30 civilians have died from October 8.

According to media reports, Maxwell’s father stated that Maxwell had previously visited Muscat and Dubai before returning to Kerala. “Thereafter, he traveled to Israel. He added, “My elder one went there first, and my younger son followed a week later.”

Maxwell looked after his wife and their five-year-old daughter. Further Nibin’s father told that his wife is also seven months pregnant. The father said he’s been told about his son’s passing and is waiting for the mortal remains to arrive.

Maxwell has two more brothers, and his older brother also works in Israel. The third sibling is in Abu Dhabi.
