Actor Kamaal R. Khan was detained for posting tweets on Akshay Kumar’s “Laxmii” two years back. He was arrested after arriving at the Mumbai airport and will appear in court today, according to the Mumbai Police.

Actor Kamaal R Khan, commonly known as KRK, was jailed on Tuesday. This was for reportedly tweeting disparaging remarks about the Akshay Kumar film Laxmii in 2020. According to sources, Khan, who was held at the Mumbai airport on Monday night, would appear before a magistrate court in Borivali later that day. The Malad police detained him.
Charges on Kamaal R. Khan
Khan has been charged for his remarks on social media with violating sections 500 and 153A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 67A of the IT Act for conveying pornographic material in an electronic format.
Circumstances leading Kamaal to jail
The arrest took place after Rahul Kanal of the Shiv Sena’s youth wing lodged a complaint. “Khan uses obscene language and makes disparaging remarks on social media,” said Kanal. All those words and behaviour are unacceptable in modern society. The Mumbai police have taken serious action against him by detaining him, making it clear that such behaviour won’t be tolerated by any citizen in the future.

Kanal also made a complaint to the Bandra police. This resulted in another FIR — filed at the Bandra police station in May 2020. According to the charges, Kamaal R. Khan made disparaging remarks about the late actor Rishi Kapoor when he was receiving medical attention in a hospital. He also sent hateful tweets at actor Irfan Khan while he was recuperating from surgery.
