Shark Tank India 3: Anupam Mittal Mocks Aman Gupta After Losing 1 Crore Business to the Boat CEO

In a recent episode of ‘Shark Tank India’ Season 3, Anupam Mittal, famous entrepreneur and Shaadi.com founder, engaged in some lighthearted banter with fellow investor Aman Gupta, creator of boAt. The episode included a lively conversation amongst the judges during a pitch session by entrepreneurs Hitarth Parikh, Chahil Patel, and Harsheet Maliwal, who presented their revolutionary sports analytics technologies to the panel.

The entrepreneurs presented their goods, asking Rs 10 lakh for a 1% equity investment. Gupta quickly matched the offer, followed by Vineeta Singh with an attractive Rs 50 lakh for 5% stock. Namita Thapar stunned everyone by increasing the valuation and offering Rs 20 lakh for 1% stake. Mittal then took a daring move, giving a whopping Rs 1 crore for 5% stake.

However, as the discussions advanced, Gupta upped his offer to Rs 25 lakh for 1% stock. Despite Thapar’s reminder of her contribution to the appraisal, the entrepreneurs eventually accepted Gupta’s offer, leaving Thapar disappointed. 

Mittal took advantage of the situation and joked, “Acchi khaasi deal aayi thi, sharks ne apne pairon pe kulhadi maar di.” Tumhe 1 crore mil raha hai, kya leke jaa rahe ho. A nice deal had come, but the Sharks shot themselves in the foot. You were paid one crore; how much are you taking? He’s never been inside a gym.),” making fun of Gupta’s surprise success in negotiations.

Season 3 of ‘Shark Tank India’ premiered on January 22, 2024, and included returning cast members including Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta, Peyush Bansal, Anupam Mittal, and Vineeta Singh. They were joined by new panelists Amit Jain, Ritesh Agarwal, Radhika Gupta and Azhar Iqubal. Notably, film producer Ronnie Screwvala has joined the show.

Anupam Mittal, a well-known entrepreneur, is the founder and CEO of People Group and Shaadi.com. In addition to his commercial pursuits, Mittal has dabbled in film production, producing films such as Flavors (2003) and 2009 (2009).

On the other side, Aman Gupta, the creator of boAt, is a Delhi-based entrepreneur with an estimated net worth of Rs 720 crore. Gupta has not only created a name for himself in the electronics business, but he has also invested in a number of companies, demonstrating his keen investment skills.
