New Delhi: Things between India and Pakistan just got way more intense. According to top government sources, Indian defense forces successfully intercepted a Pakistani Fatah-2 ballistic missile that was reportedly headed straight for Delhi. The missile was taken down near Sirsa, Haryana, late Friday night.
If confirmed, this is a big move—one that could seriously damage Pakistan’s credibility on the military front.
What Went Down?
The situation started heating up on Friday night. As per reports from News18, Pakistan fired the Fatah-2 missile, a solid-fuelled ballistic missile with a considerable range, towards the Indian capital. But India’s defense systems kicked in fast, and the missile was intercepted before it could enter deeper Indian airspace.
In a possible counter-response, Indian forces launched retaliatory strikes early Saturday, targeting Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, along with three key Pakistani Air Force bases. Explosions were reported in multiple cities—two in Rawalpindi, and one each in Lahore and Islamabad.

Airbases Targeted in Pakistan
According to defense insiders, the following airbases were in the crosshairs:
- Nur Khan (Rawalpindi)
- Rafiqi (Shorkot)
- Murid (Chakwal)
Pakistan’s military spokesperson, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, acknowledged the strikes but said all their air assets remained unharmed.
Drones Swarm the Skies
Adding more heat to the chaos, multiple Indian surveillance drones were reportedly spotted over key Pakistani cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, and Peshawar around the same time.
On the flip side, Pakistani drones were seen at 26 different locations across India, from Baramulla in the north to Bhuj in the south, raising alarm across military zones and border regions.
One drone reportedly targeted Ferozepur in Punjab, injuring a local family. Security forces rushed to the scene and sanitized the area.

Blackouts in India Amid Tensions
To tighten up security, India imposed emergency blackouts in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor region and parts of Punjab like Jalandhar, after drones were spotted.
“We’ve imposed a blackout for a while due to suspected drone activity. Forces are on it. Please stay calm and follow protocol,” said Jalandhar’s DC in a public statement.
Sirens and loud explosions were reportedly heard during the night in both regions, intensifying public concern.
What Happens Next?
While both nations are yet to make official diplomatic statements, the escalation has clearly moved beyond the usual rhetoric. If Pakistan’s use of the Fatah-2 missile is confirmed, this could trigger global attention and potentially international mediation.
For now, both sides are on high alert, and civilians have been advised to stay indoors, especially in border regions.
