India’s Historic Pay Day Awaits
If Harmanpreet Kaur’s India go on to win the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final against South Africa, they won’t just be lifting the trophy — they’ll also be scripting a financial milestone never seen before in cricket.
The winning team will receive a record USD 4.48 million (approx. ₹39.78 crore) — the largest-ever prize money in any ICC Cricket World Cup, men’s or women’s.
This payout surpasses the USD 4 million (₹35 crore) awarded to the winners of the Men’s World Cup 2023.

ICC’s Big Leap in Equal Pay
In September 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a total prize pool of USD 13.88 million (₹123 crore) for the Women’s World Cup — a 297% increase from the previous edition in 2022.
The champions’ prize of USD 4.48 million marks a 239% rise, reflecting the ICC’s commitment to bridging the gender pay gap in cricket.
Even the runners-up won’t walk away empty-handed — they will earn USD 2.24 million (₹19.89 crore), half of the winners’ purse.
India Already Secured ₹3.1 Crore
Regardless of the final outcome, Team India have already bagged USD 350,000 (₹3.1 crore) for their participation and group-stage victories.
If they go on to win the title, their total earnings could cross ₹42 crore, making it a watershed moment for women’s cricket in India.
South Africa, who topped the group stage with two more wins, have already secured over USD 400,000 (₹3.5 crore).
BCCI May Announce Special Rewards
According to a PTI report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning a special reward if India lift the trophy.
A BCCI official revealed that the board is considering matching the ₹125 crore reward that was handed to Rohit Sharma’s side after their T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.
“The BCCI supports equal pay for men and women. If our girls win the World Cup, the reward won’t be anything less than what the men got,” a senior BCCI source told PTI.
