If you love big-screen action mixed with Indian mythology, Mirai is the movie you’ll want to check out this weekend. Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, the film brings together stylish visuals, solid performances, and a story that feels larger than life—even if it gets a little predictable at times.
A Blend of Mythology and Modern Action
At its core, Mirai dives into the legend of Emperor Ashoka’s secret “Nine”—guardians who’ve been protecting knowledge that could either save or destroy the world. Enter Teja (played by Teja Sajja), who discovers his connection to these protectors and steps up when a menacing villain known as the Black Sword (Manchu Manoj) sets his eyes on this ancient power.
The mythology-meets-action vibe is handled surprisingly well. The interval block, especially a breathtaking bird scene, is one of the highlights and shows just how cinematic this story can get.
Performances That Hit the Mark
Teja Sajja absolutely nails his role. Whether he’s throwing punches, carrying emotional scenes with Shriya Saran (who plays his mother), or delivering that goosebump-worthy “weapon realisation” moment, he feels authentic.
Manchu Manoj, on the other hand, shines as the antagonist. His calm but terrifying presence adds weight to the conflict, proving that a good villain can make or break a film. Shriya Saran adds heart, Ritika Nayak avoids clichés, and supporting actors like Jagapathi Babu and Jayaram do their bit without dragging things down.
