Mumbai, August 18 – It’s been pouring non-stop, and it looks like the rain gods aren’t letting up anytime soon. After back-to-back days of heavy showers, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert for Mumbai and the suburbs, warning residents to brace for more rain, waterlogging, and gusty winds.
What’s Happening Right Now
The city woke up to yet another wet morning, with the IMD’s 10:30 am update predicting heavy rain through the day. While the skies might ease up briefly, very heavy showers are expected to hit again by afternoon and evening.
Traffic has already taken a beating – the Western Express Highway moved at a snail’s pace near Vile Parle, and knee-deep water was reported in Sion’s Gandhi Market area. Commuters are advised to check routes before stepping out.
