Apple Vision Pro Costs Over Rs 2.8 Lakh; Tim Cook Explains Why It Is So Expensive

Appleā€™s latest invention, the Apple Vision Pro, is available today at a steep price of $3,500 (about Rs 2.8 lakh). The sticker shock may have left some asking why such a high price, but Apple CEO Tim Cook used a recent earnings call to shed light on the topic.

He underlined that the hefty price reflects the remarkable technological improvements included within the mixed-reality headset. The Vision Pro, built on 5,000 patents, exemplifies Appleā€™s devotion to cutting-edge technology.

During the earnings call, Cook addressed worries about the high price, saying, ā€œIf you look at it from a price point of view, thereā€™s an incredible amount of technology packed into the product.ā€ He went on to mention the incorporation of two Apple Silicon processors, as well as the availability of 600 new apps and games for the smartphone.

The Apple Vision Pro adds spatial computing, allowing users to incorporate digital material into their physical environment. This technology is the culmination of years of invention, ranging from silicon breakthroughs to displays and considerable advances in AI and machine learning.

Cook went on to explain the significance of AI, saying, ā€œItā€™s, of course, built on many innovations that Apple invested multiple years on, from silicon to displays and important AI machine learning ā€” all the hand tracking, the room mapping, all this stuff is driven by AI.ā€

Despite the relatively expensive price, many Apple enthusiasts did not hesitate to secure their piece of the future when preorders started on January 19, with rumors indicating that the firm had already sold around 2 lakh headsets. However, other analysts expect that demand will decline owing to the headsetā€™s specialized nature.

According to Appleā€™s CFO Luca Maestri, prominent firms like as Walmart and Nike are already looking at possible Vision Pro applications for their consumers and staff. This demonstrates that the headsetā€™s capabilities go beyond entertainment. The headset is yet to be introduced in India.
