Abdul Mohammed, Hyderabad student missing in US, moved away from home in May last year to attend Cleveland University in Ohio to obtain a master’s degree in information technology. Since March 7, according to his family, he has yet to speak to them.
Abdul’s father, Mohammed Saleem, got a call last week from an unidentified number. They said they were drug dealers in Cleveland and had taken his son away.
The unknown caller then requested $1200 in exchange for without indicating how to make the payment. According to his family, he even threatened to sell the student’s kidney to the mafia if they didn’t pay.
After telling his American relatives, his parents filed a missing person’s report with the Cleveland police. According to the police’s watch order, Mr Mohammed wore blue pants, a red jacket, and a white T-shirt. The family has also written to the Indian Council in Chicago, hoping to find him.
Hyderabad student missing or the abduction is the ninth such instance in less than three months. This happened a week after another Indian student was discovered dead in the US. The 20-year-old engineering student Abhijeeth Paruchuru’s body was found in a car in a jungle. However, an early investigation turned up nothing odd, according to the Indian Consulate General in New York.
