If you’ve been recharging your phone on a budget, there’s some not-so-great news. Reliance Jio and Airtel have quietly pulled the plug on their cheapest prepaid recharge packs that used to give you 1 GB data per day for a month. That means no more affordable entry-level plans from the two biggest telecom players in India.
Reliance Jio Prepaid Plans (August 2025)
- ₹299 Plan – 1.5 GB/day, 28 days validity
- ₹349 Plan – 2 GB/day, 28 days validity
Jio’s cheapest daily data option now starts at ₹299, which might sting a bit for users who were used to the discontinued ₹249 pack.

Bharti Airtel Prepaid Plans
- ₹349 Plan – 1.5 GB/day, 28 days validity
- ₹361 Plan – 50 GB/month (bulk data), 30 days validity
Airtel’s ₹349 daily data plan is now the baseline. The ₹361 pack is a little different—rather than daily limits, it gives you a lump sum of 50 GB for the month.
Vodafone Idea (Vi) Prepaid Plans
- ₹299 Plan – 1 GB/day, 28 days validity
- ₹349 Plan – 1.5 GB/day, 28 days validity
- ₹408 Plan – 2 GB/day, 28 days validity
Interestingly, Vi is still hanging on to the ₹299 plan with 1 GB/day, making it the most affordable daily data option among the three.
What This Means for Users
For regular users, this shift means higher monthly expenses if you’re on Jio or Airtel. While these companies are boosting their average revenue per user (ARPU), it also means more pressure on people who rely on budget recharges for daily internet.
Vodafone Idea might just attract a few price-conscious customers with its ₹299 plan, but given its shrinking subscriber base, it may not move the needle much.

Subscriber Battle Heats Up
The telecom war is far from over. According to TRAI data:
- Jio gained 1.9 million subscribers in June 2025.
- Airtel added 7.6 lakh users.
- Vi lost over 2 lakh subscribers.
Clearly, Jio is still on top, but Airtel isn’t far behind. Vi, on the other hand, continues to struggle.
Bottom Line
If you’re looking for the cheapest daily data plan, Vodafone Idea still offers the ₹299 pack. But if you’re with Jio or Airtel, get ready to pay a little more every month.
The telecom game in India is shifting, and while it’s good news for company revenues, for the average user—it just means spending extra for the same internet.
