Good news for dairy lovers! Mother Dairy has announced a fresh price cut across its popular products after the government’s GST 2.0 reforms. Starting September 22, 2025, your favorite items like paneer, butter, cheese, milkshakes, and even ice cream will cost less.
The company confirmed that it is passing on the entire tax benefit directly to consumers, making everyday essentials a little lighter on the wallet.
What’s Behind the Price Cut?
With the new GST rules, most of Mother Dairy’s portfolio now falls under either the 0% exempt category or the lowest 5% slab. That means:
- UHT milk (tetra pack) and paneer: 5% GST → 0%
- Ghee, butter, cheese, milkshakes: 12% GST → 5%
- Ice creams: 18% GST → 5%
- Safal processed foods like frozen snacks, pickles, jams, coconut water, tomato puree: 12% GST → 5%
Mother Dairy MD Manish Bandlish called the move a “progressive step” that will boost consumption and encourage people to choose safe, high-quality packaged food.

New Prices You’ll See in Stores
Here’s a quick look at what’s getting cheaper from Sept. 22:
- UHT toned milk (1 litre): ₹77 → ₹75
- Double-toned milk (450 ml pouch): ₹33 → ₹32
- Milkshakes (180 ml): ₹30 → ₹28
- Paneer (200 gm): ₹95 → ₹92
- Malai Paneer (200 gm): ₹100 → ₹97
- Butter (500 gm): ₹305 → ₹285
- Cheese cubes (180 gm): ₹140 → ₹135
- Cheese slices (200 gm): ₹170 → ₹160
Other cheese variants and spreads have also seen similar cuts.
What’s Not Changing
If you’re wondering about the regular pouch milk (cow, buffalo, toned, full cream, etc.)—those prices remain the same. Why? Because they were already GST-free, so there’s no new benefit to pass on there.
Why This Matters
This isn’t just about saving a few rupees. Lower GST means packaged dairy and processed foods are now more affordable for millions of households. And for a brand like Mother Dairy, this move strengthens its position as a consumer-first company that doesn’t just pocket tax breaks but actually shares them.
