Bajaj Gears Up for a New Chetak
Looks like Bajaj Auto is ready to give its much-loved Chetak e-scooter a major upgrade. The next-gen model has just been spotted testing, and even though it’s wrapped in heavy camouflage, there are some clear hints about what’s coming next.
The Chetak has already been a big success for Bajaj, helping the brand secure the second spot in India’s electric two-wheeler market. But now, Bajaj seems to be taking things up a notch with a more refined design and new tech features that’ll make it stand out even more.

First Look: What’s New on the Outside
From the spy shots, the upcoming Chetak carries forward its retro-modern charm but with noticeable tweaks. There’s an updated LED tail lamp, now a single integrated unit that combines the brake light and indicators. The tail section looks cleaner, with a new number plate mount and a chunkier tyre hugger.
The side panels are still under wraps, but we can spot a flatter seat that ditches the old hump, giving it a more relaxed look. The indicators have moved up to the handlebar, and the headlamp — a familiar LED setup — now proudly wears the new “Chetak” branding.
Inside the Cockpit: Small but Smart Changes
Peek closer and you’ll notice the new switchgear console and a redesigned instrument cluster — likely a more advanced display. However, this test model doesn’t have keyless ignition, hinting that it could be a mid-spec variant instead of the fully loaded one.
Despite the updates, the prototype keeps a hub-mounted motor and battery pack placed on the floorboard, just like the current version.
Expected Range and Performance
The next-gen Bajaj Chetak is expected to carry over the same 3.5 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of around 150 km per charge. Bajaj might fine-tune the motor and electronics for smoother power delivery and slightly better efficiency.
While performance details are still under wraps, Bajaj is likely focusing on making the Chetak more practical and user-friendly rather than radically overhauling the drivetrain.

When Can We Expect It?
There’s no official word yet, but industry buzz suggests that the next-gen Bajaj Chetak could debut in early 2026. It’ll compete head-to-head with popular electric scooters like the TVS iQube, Ather 450X, and Ola S1 Pro, all of which are ramping up their updates too.
If Bajaj gets the pricing and features right this time, the next-gen Chetak could easily strengthen its place in India’s fast-growing EV market.
